California TCP lookup

Check any charter-party carrier's CPUC status: authority, permits and insurance filings, read fresh every night.

Or browse every carrier by city.

What you are looking at

Every limousine, black-car, shuttle, van and charter-bus company that carries passengers for hire in California holds a charter-party carrier permit (a "TCP") from the California Public Utilities Commission. The Commission publishes each carrier's status. This page lets you search that record by company name, TCP number or PSG number and see, for free, whether the authority is active, when each permit expires, and whether liability insurance and workers' compensation are on file.

Riders and event planners use it to verify a limo company is licensed before booking. Operators use it to check their own record, a subcontractor's, or a competitor's. Brokers use it to confirm a filing landed.

Questions

What is a TCP number?

A TCP number is the charter-party carrier permit number the California Public Utilities Commission issues to a limousine, sedan, van, or bus company that carries passengers for hire on a prearranged basis. It appears on the carrier's certificate and, by law, on the vehicle. A PSG number is the Commission's account number for the same carrier; one PSG account can hold several TCP permits.

How do I verify that a limo company is licensed in California?

Search the company's name or its TCP or PSG number above. A licensed carrier shows an Active authority and an active liability insurance filing. Suspended, Revoked, or Expired means the company may not legally carry passengers for hire in California right now.

Where does this data come from?

From the Commission's own public carrier record. keepmytcp reads every California charter-party carrier account each night and shows the status, permits, and insurance filings exactly as the Commission publishes them. The "checked" date on each result tells you when that record was last read.

My company's record is wrong or out of date. What do I do?

The Commission's record is the source. If it is wrong, the fix is a filing with the Commission, not with us. Insurance status changes when your insurer files or cancels; authority status changes when an analyst processes your case. Sign up and we will tell you the night it changes.

Does this show TNC, taxi, or interstate carriers?

No. It covers carriers regulated by the CPUC under charter-party (TCP) and passenger stage (PSC) authority. Taxis are licensed by cities, TNCs like Uber and Lyft hold a different CPUC permit, and purely interstate carriers are regulated by the FMCSA.
